PhotoMechanic is pretty reliable, at least for 1D series bodies and the numbers shown need no interpretation. The numbers displayed in EXIF Viewer tend to be a little more cryptic. It has been my understanding that the 10D/20D/30D cameras are not as easily to deal with regarding this. In fact it may be something that only Canon can tell you.
