If you could photograph three things...

Eric Jones, Photographer

Greenville | NC | USA | Posted: 4:47 PM on 11.05.07 |
->> This is more of a fun/interesting question I thought I would throw out. If you could photograph three things or you had the choice to shoot any person, event or place whether it was in the past, present or future what would it be?
Here are my answers:
Person – Jesse James and his bikes
Event – The birth of my child (I was holding my wife’s hand at the time.)
Place – The coast of Hawaii
Be curious to see everyone’s answers. A little off topic but it's all good. |

->> My maternal grandfather as a child. As my mother is an only child, family stories are a bit thin. Her father grew up in a place called Cedarvale, KS., went on cattle drives, claimed to have been part of a posse hunting for Jesse James, and having p***** off his father was "invited" to leave the family farm |

->> I started writing this post at 6 and had to stop to go to an assignment so Rafael beat me to the punch I guess but.
Event: Battle of Yorktown and the surrendered of British forces at the end of The American Revolution. Yes, I know that I'd be a little out of place with my Domke bag full of gear but what a great audio slideshow that would make with the sound of marching troops and the British playing "The World Turned Upside Down" as they surrendered.
Person: My maternal great-grandfather (and great grandmother), He worked on a steamship around 1910. He fell in love with one of the passengers on the ship whose family had arranged her marriage to a wealthy Italian gentleman in the U.S. When the ship reached New York my great-grandfather jumped ship at Ellis Island and married my great-grandmother. They both had just the clothes on their back, but they set out to make a life for themselves here in the states. I'd love to shoot him as a part of telling the story of all of those immigrants that are so much a part of what we are as a Nation.
Place: Steel Creek, Buffalo National River, Northern Arkansas. I know I'm biased towards my home state, but this is just about my favorite place on the planet, crystal clear water, 200-300 bluffs and miles and miles from "civilization". I canoe this river every Easter and I'd love to document the area through all four seasons. Plus this is probably the only dream on this list that I'm going to have come true baring the invention of a time machine.
BTW Great thread Eric. |
