The current market value of a used Canon Mark II N

->> So I've been shopping around for a "lightly used" Canon Mark II N. I've only looked at bodies that are in good shape, come with the original packaging and all the original accessories and under 50,000 actuations. Canon says you can get 200,000 actuations out of a Mark II N before the shutter needs to be replaced.
To determine the current market value based on the above criteria, I'm using the "completed auctions" search on eBay. Prices on bodies that have sold vary from about $3200 to $2400.
My imprecise, gut feeling, based on what has been sold is that you can get a used body in the condition outlined above with under 1000 actuations for about $3200. For every 10,000 additional actuations take off $160 or -$0.016 per one actuation.
Is this way out of whack with what you are seeing?

->> I just picked one up for $2800 with 10K on the shutter and in near mint condition. There are deals out there ... just have to look around.

->> Yes indeed!!
Research, Ebay is a bad source, some folks on Ebay overpay for some items and the MKIIn is one of them at this time. I will be getting a Minto refurb from a friend for a good deal, this is my second MKIIn, can't wait to have the cash on hadn to get it. |

->> Hey, Phil -
Just a Caveat:
"Canon says you can get 200,000 actuations out of a Mark II N before the shutter needs to be replaced. "
Would that this were always the case. My MkII N shutter went out at 29K and approx. 6 months, and I think I'm not alone in having had this happen. CPS fixed it gratis and shipped it back to me next-day (it was still under warranty), but just to be prudent, I'd budget in a new shutter (around $250) whenever buying a used camera body, whatever the actuation count says. |

->> I second what Dennis just said. My shutter went out at around 100,000 and Canon replaced on warranty. Sure it is a lot of clicks, but half of what they said it would do.
Thing is I never knew the real shutter count. I had a rough estimate that was right, but Canon told me the real number when I brought in my Mark 2n.
Does anyone know how to check my current count? |
