Matthew Putney, Photographer, Assistant

->> With the start of the college football season starting I am looking for a faster way of doing things. I edit and caption 20-40 photos for a college football game and need to print off paper copys for my sports department with the caption and file name under the photo. I use photoshop now to print them without the captions. Is there a way in photoshop, i view, or Photo Mechanic to do this?

->> Photo Mechanic will do it. Just select the group of thumbnails and select print. In the second dialog box put {caption}in the thumbnail title and bingo you're done.

->> Matthew,
My bad it's on the first dialog box that comes up. It's the one labeled "Print Settings" The 4th item down is the "Thumbnail title" in that box you can put all the data fields that you want printed with the thumbnail. You can put in {filenamebase} {caption} and get the file name and the IPTC caption printed for each item. I'm on 4.5 but I think that the feature has been around back to 4.3. You can also go to
http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php and ask there. In all the world you will not find better or faster service ('cept PhotoShelter ;) )

->> Matthew,

Select the photos you want on your contact sheet.
Go to "File" "Print" and you will see two tabs at the top: "Contact Sheet" and "Proofs"

Click on "Proofs" and click on "Variables" near the bottom. Find the caption variable and paste that into the proof footer box.

->> Thanks for all the help. It looks like one of my problems was that I had the number of the title line height lines set to 1 and it only produced the filename.
