D200 battery

->> I'm not entirely sure if it's the battery, the connections between the battery and the camera or the hinged door that holds the battery in place, but on my d200, when my camera is tilted at certain angles or sometimes just for fun, my battery sinks low, something disconnects in some other way and my camera starts flashing the "no more battery" signal and it shuts down. The battery isn't coming all the way off as it is still able to power the camera saying, "Hey! No more battery!" The problem: My battery is completely charged. Sometimes it's worse than others, but has anyone had similar problems with this or similar bodies (and dSLR I suppose)? I start freelancing next week, and I really can't have this problem on my first assignment for the publication.

Thanks very much,
Thomas

->> Thomas this is going to sound 110% stupid but..... try to notice if this is happening with a particular lens on the camera. I had a D2x that would do a similar vanishing act with the electrons in a fully charged battery. Turned out to be a bad lens mount.

Of course there's the obvious, clean the battery contacts or try a few sheets of paper between the battery and the battery door as a shim to gently push the battery into the battery compartment. I'll just never forget that lens mount experience.

->> Same thing happens to me Thomas. My d200 occasionally goes crazy and says I have no battery left when im using my body with the grip and my 70-200. I can't say I know a solution for it as it is rare and resolves itself quickly, but it's happened at least 4 times to me.

->> I'll try various lenses, cleaning the contacts a bit more and the paper idea.

Thanks guys!

->> Okay! Final post:

I think my contacts are scratched and that was the issue, but after tearing up small strips of gaffer tape on the hinged door, it doesn't seem to be happening anymore. Fantastic.

Thanks very much,
Thomas

post script: It was happening on every lens, good thought though.

->> My D200 does that every once in a while and I notice that the verticle grip is a little loose. After tightening it a little bit, it works fine afterwards.
