->> I know. It's all silly, isn't it?
I read today that Thom Hogan said the normal 3 week buzz about a new Nikon release hasn't happened yet. So, it may be a few more weeks or months.
That is fine by me, since I am happy with my D2X and wouldn't want to get on board with a new body until a few likely bugs are worked out.
Cheers,
Bryan... |

You mean, few bugs like those that the MKIII are having?

BIG WIDE GRIN.
Don't be too hard on yourself David, we all want news from Nikon. Even Canon users want the news because that means Canon will get busy designing their Mk IV. I hear it will shoot 12 fps, FF, 22mp, and an even faster auto-focus. |

->> I'm happy with my Nikon, a D3 announcement purely means an extra thread on ss.com for me (in between the mkIII ones :P) and nothing else.
I'm working with what I've got, the economy in New Zealand doesn't allow me to recycle bodies as often as a majority of shooters on here.
My D2x body is slowly undressing itself as my thumb slowly wears away at her clothing and exposes her nakid alloy bits.
I'll be happy to pick up anyones 2nd D2x, the only thing I want is a bigger buffer and secondary buffer (slower) so I can overshoot my current card with a warning light showing when I'm shooting into my secondary buffer, change cards when I have a chance and then it writes the secondary buffer onto the newly formatted card. |

->> Drew,
I love my D2X too. HE can undress around me anytime:)
I recently bought the D2Xs (after searching for an "X" with no luck-now they are everywhere) and brought it out only 2x. I just love my D2X THAT much.
I could care less about a D3..and I will NEVER buy a first generation camera anyway.

->> As a Nikon & Canon user, I'm really happy with the results I've achieved with my D2X, This is my second one, Nikon replaced it back in 12/05, and I just had it refurbed at Nikon NY, it whould give me a few more years of good service. When Nikon delivers the D3-whatever, I'll probably get one too, why spoil a good thing :D

->> Well, I'm already taking the first major step to switching to Canon. It's come down to myself seeing images from both systems side-by-side on a daily basis and preferring the Canon file hands down over a Nikon. Nothing against Nikon, but if we want to compare the two to film, I like Canon film better. I hope whatever is they announce though is at least a significant upgrade to whatever they update. For now, I'll be one of those hybrid Nikon/Canon shooters until I can fully use the force on the white side.

->> "I like Canon film better"
I didn't know Canon made film, too?
Chris, I take it that you like how Kodak, Fuji, Agfa, or Ilford processed film looks when shot with a Canon lens over a Nikon lens.
Did you know that Canon does not make its own lens glass. They buy if from other lens glass manufacturers. The two largest lens glass manufacturers in Japan are Asahi Pentax and Nikon.
*******
Now back to making pictures one frame at a time. |

->> Walter,
I think you are incorrect about the glass. There was a video linked here a few months ago that showed the manufacturing process for Canon's L series glass. It started with silica powder and followed the whole process until the lens assembly was complete. Its an interesting video series that I will repost if I can find the link.

I loved the cold plastic feel of the NC2000......makes me all warm just thinking about it.
Oh sorry, this was a post about the new (not yet announced) toys..........whoops |

Thanks for the update. Glad to here Canon has gotten into the glass manufacturing. For decades they didn't. |
