->> Forget the programs - create it in HTML.
Everyone on earth with a computer can see it without the need to download or install anything additional. |

->> Patric
Besides putting a portfolio up on web as Saul suggests, I created a printed portfolio in InDesign, and the converted it to a pdf so people can download it to their computers from my web site.
You need to help us out with what you had in mind for the end presentation i.e. DVD slideshow, printed, web, balloons and streamers? |

| ->> I think that having the option to include somesort of a slideshow is cool, but i think most newspaper editors will just take the single images and drag them into photo mechanic or a similar program. The last time i sent out portfolios, i sent them with a 8.5 x 11 book with a cover, resume, cover letter, and several pages of thumbnail images and the captions to go with them. I also attached the cd with everything electronic on it to the back cover of the booklet, so it was all in one package. I layed each page out in InDesign. I guess it worked alright because i got the internship that i wanted. I suppose that it also depends on whether you are sending it to advertising or editorial clients. I like to send a book though and not just a cd, because that way htere is something tangible that can sit on an editors desk, of on a shelf, with my name and an image on the cover for them to look at. Make sure the image doesnt suck though. So they dont get tired of looking at it and throw it away. |

->> I agree that an old fashioned hard copy is a nice touch, and if they don't want that, put a CD inside the front cover with your digital images on it...
As far as the program, I just burn straight jpg's onto the CD, with the captions in the file info, so the editor can just drop em into Photo Mechanic.
If you mean what program is good to put your stuff online...I like to use simpleviewer, which is free. You can see an example of it on my website at the link below. Just click the little link at the bottom right of the page to download simpleviewer.
