Event fulfilment?

->> I know that if I could come up with the right combination of search terms I could find the answer, but no luck so far.
I'm looking for a short term, web based, e-commerce enabled photo solution that will allow me to upload images from a softball tourney that my daughters league is sponsoring and and provide the teams with access and fulfilment. What I'm content to do is offer images at a competitive price and take a smaller margin to have someone else handle the back end. As I'm the league sanctioned guy, I'll set prices and offer a negotiated cut to the league and as this is a bit outside my experience, the simpler the better.

->> Dave, I have used both Printroom and ExposureManager. Both are excellent companies to work with, and both offer a similar range of products for you to sell - prints, mugs, buttons, mousepads, etc.

The real differences between the two depend on a few factors, primarily your need for customization of the screeens and GUI -ExposureManager wins this hands down - compared to your desire to have the setup and upload as simple as possible. PrintRoom wins when it comes to simplicity.

Both services regularly improve the full spectrum of their service, from account setup, to gallery maintenance, to pricing flexibility, revenue reporting, yada-yada-yada.

I still have accounts on both services, but I am currently using my ExposureManager account, because I am willing to invest the time upfront to customize my storefront, and at the time I made the decision, Printroom did not yet offer some key products that EM did - they have since added those products.

Given what you have said in your initial question I would recommend Printroom. However, note that PR and most other companies charge a yearly account fee, which is waived if your revenue reaches a certain number. If this is truly a small potatoes endeavor, you might be better off putting your photos on a display only page, and handle orders offline - collect cash upfront, and print them at Costco.

Final thought: If you are already a member of Photoshelter, then adding this capability to your PS account is pretty straightforward.

->> Unless something has changed Printroom has said they do not charge Printrooom Professional members a yearly fee. I know their website says it's something like $99 per year and I've been a member for 3, 4, 5? I dunno but never been charged again. There was a thread I was involved with here some time ago where we discussed that and I quoted my Printroom CSR as saying there were no recurring fees. Contact them, express your interest and inquire about the recurring fee. You'll find out for sure.

I will second the Printroom recommendation. It can not get much easier than them. But, I've never tried anything else...

->> Exposure Manager has a monthly fee option, and the art account is like $6 a month, so you could try it for a couple of months. It sounds like for the volume, you wouldn't need a full event account.

You can customize EM or you can just you the basic gallery provided. I find that basic gallery nice enough.
