Canon shutter Actuations

->> I just got off of the phone with 3 authorized Canon dealers. I was asking about "how to determine shutter actuations." Each dealer said the same thing. "There is no way to tell unless you send the camera into Canon."
I know this topic has come up before, but, I can't find it in the archives.
How can I determine the actuations on a Canon MK II? |

| ->> Photo Mechanic can tell you, as can some other programs. However, all three dealers are right. If you copy the settings from one camera onto a card and load them into another camera, it also copies shutter information. If you've owned the camera since it was brand new and have never copied settings, then I suppose you could get an accurate count yourself. Canon can get past that and confirm actuations, software available to you or me cannot. |

->> Kevin,
thanks, Photomechanic seems to work fine. There is some tweaking to make it readable. Thanks for the info.
Here is the procedure ....
click edit
click set info text
create/insert a new line and type, Actuations:
click on variable
double click actuations
click ok
open an image and there is the shutter count.
visit camerabits.com for more detailed info. |
