Add .jpg extension to multiple files?

| ->> Anyone know of an OS X program that will automatically add the .jpg extension to multiple image files? We don't use the file extension at work, so when I transfer to my Powerbook at home, it has no idea what file type the images are. I've looked in the file info, and the extension isn't hidden, it's gone. Therefore neither PhotoShop nor Photo Mechanic will open the files. It would be fairly tedious to add the extension to each photo individually. Any ideas for a bulk renamer? |

| ->> Yes. Use Automator, which is an application that comes with OSX (depends on your version). Pick the finder in the left column. There should be a way to add that to the files. It will take you just a few minutes. |

->> Photoshop Bridge will do it, I do this all the time. Actually, there are two functions in PS that will work.
1) Photoshop: File>Automate>Batch and then set up your parameters accordingly. Works like a charm.
2) Bridge: Tools>Batch rename>under "New Filenames" on the second line, click on the dropdown list and choose "New Extension" and you're good to go.
Be sure to designate your new extensions as lower case.
Good luck!

There is an applescript in OS X that will do this and it should already loaded on your computer.
Search for "add to file names.scpt" and open it. This will open the script in the Applescript application. Click the run button. Follow the menu prompts and click the buttons and it should take care of adding what you want to the file names.
I would, however, advise that you test it out first to make sure it's doing what you want it to before taking action on a large number of files. |

| ->> I'd also recommend Renamer4mac, works great, and very easy. I use it if I need to rename a batch of files, by number find and replace, everything is in there and so easy. |
