slideshows for web

->> Is there any software that will take a folder of photos and make them into a slideshow for the web? I've shown many iphoto slideshows to groups and then transferred them into idvd. I've put a couple of these on the web as quicktime movies but not completely stafisfied. (see my New Orleans show at www.d.umn.edu/photolibrary) I've seen many impressive web sites (like Casey Templeton's or Washington Posts) with these on them and just would like a few ideas on how they were done.

->> Showit Web http://www.showitfast.com/ is what I use. I also have Soundslides, but for whatever reason, I prefer Showit.

->> Brett I use iphoto slideshow. The idvd doesn't allow many of the functions like manually setting time and images like the iphoto slideshow does. Although maybe you are putting your work into idvd just to export it. I have not tried to export a project out of iphoto slide show although there must be a way. I've been able to use my laptop for every show I've done it hasn't been an issue yet. I imagine I may hit against a rock soon though.

I have looked at soundslides and have not bought it just because I have not seen that it does anything that iphoto doesn't do. Maybe I am missing something important here. If anyone would like to clue me in on the difference I would love to learn!

->> I'm not a big fan of Flash when it's the sole interface to a site, but it works nicely for slideshows.

Lightroom and Photo Mechanic make it easy to create slideshows, or there's the free tools from Airtight Interactive...

You can download to your desktop, and if you have a webserver that is running PHP then you can locally build and test the show before uploading it or burning it.

->> Brett, I use ShowItWeb for my wedding website's online DVD Montage. Here is a link to it. http://www.socalpixels.com/blog/slideshows/2006_Favorite_Wedding_Images/. It is fairly easy to use, but the software creates a Flash file and is unable to burn a DVD.
