Photoshelter Questions
Kirby Yau, Photographer, Assistant

->> Hey all you photoshelter users. I'm currently a Shutterfly user and use it to sell prints after shooting an event. The only things I'm displeased with is that the user interface is confusing and limiting when clients are browsing/purchasing photos, especially for seniors. Also batch uploading of photos was not available for Intel Mac users. Would photoshelter fit my needs and is there a SS.com discount?

PS. I tried searching "photoshelter" into the thread search and it came up with everything but photoshelter stuff.

Thanks upfront to all.

->> Kirby, PhotoShelter is pretty flexible. There are numerous ways to batch upload. I don't know of any SS discount, the prices are pretty reasonable the way it is.

Use the contact page on Photoshelter and zip them off a list of questions. They generally respond very quickly.

->> Kirby. Yes. Photoshelter would work for you. I use it for wedding/portrait/corporate clients all the time. I have almost 20,000 images on the site. It pays for itself over and over and over again. For the user, its a very simple and easy to use setup. I have not had any complaints from clients buying photos the way I have it setup. If you want to see how I do it, here is a sample gallery: http://tinyurl.com/3aj8co not a senior, but a corporate shoot....but you can see how 1) the "buy prints" option works and 2) how the fotoquote integration works, which is also very cool. There are a lot of things you can do with PS that I have not done yet, but for my needs it is the best. I also created a php script on the front of my site for users to log-in, then it takes them right to their gallery so they do not have to remember long links or anything like that. People like it a lot. If you have any other questions, just let me know, I'll be happy to answer them for you.

->> Oh I forgot to add, there is not a ss.com discount that I know of, but you can do a free acount and check it out first. Then, once you like it (and you will) you can upgrade your account. As far as batch uploading, One of the things I love most about it is being able to upload right from photo mechanic, just select all, click send to photoshelter and go, you can rename, batch caption and resize all from photo mechanic, makes life a breeze.
