JohnPaul Greco, Photographer, Assistant

->> Hi there everyone,.. I have been trying to find the program that shows how many clicks / activations are on the shutters of my MkII bodies...which I am hoping to sell soon..for 2K each..

Oh,..and I have a Mac computer if that makes any difference..

I have done a search for this, but came up with programs that didn't work for some goofy reason..

Any help is appreciated! :-)

->> Thank you Wade!! That was that was exactly what I was looking for! :-) Thanks everyone else for the effort! :-) Too bad I don't have PM.. :-(

Here were the results:

My "K" file body = Camera Actuations: 26580

My "L" file body = Camera Actuations: 36362

Yeppers,...they don't get as much use as I used to put them through..

BTW,.the files on both cameras are different.. one begins with a K, the other begins with an L.. I'm not sure as to why,..but at least I can keep their files separate, and in the same folder without over lapping the same file names.. :-) (all the more reason to buy them both from me..) :-)

Ok.. now tomorrow I am shooting pics of them and they will go on the market.. :-)

->> Speaking of shutter activations, how much does having a high number impact resale value? I'm trying to sell my 1DMarkII in preparation for getting a MarkIII and I'm having trouble figuring out how much to ask given that my activation number is around 300,000.

(I tried to start a separate thread about this but had technical difficulties.)

I loaded both the pro version and free version of Opanda, and I do not see where it gives the actuations.

->> I too tried Roberts {act} method in PM, but it isn't working. I'm running PM 4.3.8 on a Mac. I have both 1D files and Mark IIn files, neither if which are showing the actuations. The word "actuationts" shows up in the file info next to the image, but so does {act}, instead of the value. Any ideas on what is wrong?

And just for info... {actuations} have to be used with { and "closed" with } This {} defines variable in PM. Personally I have this line in Set Info text:
Actuations #: {actuations}
and this gives following result in image info:
Actuations #: 67034
But as I said... it looks like this info is missing once file is edited in PS. No idea why.

Any ideas?

With my 20D and 30D I am seeing "actuation counter" and "actuation multiplier". How do I read that? The 20D is showing these numbers..........

Actuation Counter: 192
Actuation Multiplier: 43293

if there is a freeware program for use with PC that would be great as i am a multi-platformer.

70K+ on one of my n's :/

->> Nathan- when Canon replaced my shutter with over 150,000 actuations, the camera came back and the actuations number was around 22,000. Weird. I figured it'd either not be reset or would be reset to 0.

Someone bought my camera within the last hour of the auction so the shutter point is moot. I was thinking I'd have to re-list it at a lower price. I wish there was a "Canon-care" just like Apple Care that you could buy when you are selling old equipment. It would give the buyer peace of mind.

My experience with shutters is that some blow early and some just go on and on. So the only thing the actuations tells you is who will be paying for your new shutter if it blows -- you or Canon.
