Need Help! Blank D70 LCD Monitor
Robb Sepulveda, Photographer
Newport Beach | CA | | Posted: 9:41 PM on 02.17.07
->> My back up D70 went on the fritz today.

I can take pics okay, but there are no previews.
The lcd monitor is completely white / blank.
If I try the menu, I can barely see a couple of lines but no text or color..basically white.

I do not have any error msg.'s in control window.

Tried a fully charged battery, switching to a different lens and turning it on off several times, same result.

Time for NPS? I have about 7500 actuations.

Thanks all

Robb

->> Robb,
7,500 is nothing. My D70 easily had twice that and never a problem. I don't know how or why, but it sounds like your LCD went out. The photos you shoot come out OK when you put them on the computer right?

->> If you're in a pinch and you need to preview images, change menu settings, etc. you can probably hook the body up to your TV and see what you would normally see on the LCD. You might still be able to get use out of it that way as a backup camera, or in a studio, etc.

->> My D70 had its shutter blow with 15K actuations after only 7 months old. Not even a NPS member and it was fixed for free!

Hopefully yours is under 1 year old?

->> Same thing happened during football game this past fall with my Canon 10D. After every pic I shot the lcd screen would whiten out on review.
I freaked out, but kept taking a few shots. Downloaded to laptop at halftime and realized I was still getting pics on card. So I was able to shoot 2nd half ("Hey, it's like shooting film," one old soup veteran said.).
$269 later with CPS, I have images again on LCD.
