Photoshop open resolution question

->> Hey everyone, On my computer at the office, I use Photoshop CS on a Mac and when I open images, they open as like 53X36 files at 72 dpi. on my lapop which runs Windows, they open as 14X9 images at 300 dpi. I want them to open as 72 dpi at 53X36. I have looked in the preferences and cannot find where to change it. Anyone have any ideas on how to do so? Thanks

->> Photoshop can assign a setting using the Image-size dialog, but it's really just a convenience for us when we're trying to determine the dimensions of an image on a given device with that DPI. The image doesn't change unless you force PS to re-render it - which we wouldn't normally want unless we'd cropped.

In my workflow, I have Photo Mechanic assign a default DPI of 240 for my images as they're ingested, because that works well with my ink-jet printers. It's still an arbitrary number as the actual pixels don't change, just the calculated dimensions of the document if was printed. Photoshop then inherits that number when I open a document to edit it.
