| ->> I shoot with 3 different bodies at a time. I renumber the images in ACDC to put them in the order that they were shot. Very time consuming as you can imaging. Does anyone know of a program that can put the images in order by the time that they were taken? Than I can renumber them. Thanks |

->> I sync. my cameras within 5 seconds of eachother by visiting time.gov.
Then on a PC, I view photos by 'picture taken on', select all, then drag and drop into a free program called 'A.F.5 Rename your files 1.1'. Works great, you can number them in several different ways.
Google 'A.F.5 Rename your files 1.1' for the software. |

| ->> Photo Mechanic and I use it a few times per month doing the same thing. Put your images in the same folder and then sort by capture time. Then save them and do a re-number with changing the file name at the same time. Very fast, very easy. |

->> This situation is one of the reason's I'm purchasing PhotoMechanic.
Getting the workflow adjusted took a couple of emails to Kirk - now I know why everyone respects and loves the guys at PM.
PM solved several other problems for me as well. The color class sort is novel. The price is just right. |

->> John,
You can sort the pictures by time on ACDsee and then batch rename them. Email me for details if you're unsure how to do it. I do this on a daily basis and it takes no time at all. I just sorted 600 photos (already uploaded) from 3 different cameras and renamed them and it took less than a minute. |

| ->> you can do the same in Lightroom... don't know how many folks out there are using it, but it's kind of a cool program... |

->> On ingest in PM I rename the images to the YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS format of the EXIF capture date, and allow PM to resolve name conflicts using A-Z.
That way every image from any of our camera bodies is in order by time when I view sorting by filenames.
This has worked really well, even when we're pulling in images from multiple bodies used to shoot during an event.
If the camera times are synced to a computer before the shoot then they should all stay reasonably close in time over the next couple hours, so your photos of a particular subject will stay grouped if all the cameras were shooting that particular subject, or all the images shot during a particular play in football or baseball will stay grouped. |
