->> After watching so many World Cup games lately (last night's matches were incredible!), I am extremely curious about photos from the tournament by other Sportsshooter members; I cannot seem to find any. Can someone send me in the right direction to view some recent photos from the World Cup in Germany?
Thanks in advance...cheers
Marcy
PS.. is anyone else excited to see the Socceroos get trampled by Brazil tonight? |

->> Marcy,
Why the pessimism? Despite being a Kiwi I am quite inclined to think that the Roos would do alright against Brazil; watched their game against Japan and to be honest I thought you guys have more than enough quality players to make a bit of an impact in Germany. Viduka, Cahill, Bresciano and co were outstanding in that game. I wouldn't bet against you guys getting a draw out of tonight's game and possibly three points against Croatia and progress to the next stage as winners of group F.
Oh and photos, Getty normally has about 12-15 shooters at every game. Seen some lovely WC work from them from the last couple of weeks. Check their site out.

->> Marcy, at the half it is still 0-0, the trampling doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon. As far as Sports Shooters at WC2006, John Todd is over there and I know we have some members in Germany who have been doing some updates of the festivities. International Sports Images as well as Getty have some amazing archives of the game so far.

Like that wasn't going to happen...
The Washington Post today did a reasonable job explaining to all them "Mericans why a 0-0 draw with Italy meant that the US team did well. |

->> Jim,
A 2-0 loss to Brazil isn't that bad considering what they are capable of, and considering Brazil are the team to beat they look very beatable.
But there is some great images coming out of Germany right now, making me jealous that I moved last year. Had I stayed one more year I would have been in heavan.

->> The trampling comment was a bit harsh, I do agree... Australia's game against Japan was thrilling, the Socceroos did play incredibly. It is always exciting to see an underdog win. Regarding last night's game... I felt that Brazil had some compelling statistics going their way, such as participating in every World Cup since it began, while the Aussies haven't been in since 1974. I actually missed the game last night (my warm bed was too much to give up), unfortunate that they lost 0-2.
As for the 'Mericans, that game tied 1-1, not 0-0.
Thanks for the comments! |

->> Wade Jackson currently has one rather graphic shot from the World Cup on his member page (the lead) http://www.sportsshooter.com/wadejackson2
Rick's link to Icon SMI is where his stock, and some fan stock of mine, are located (images starting with "918"). We're still processing photos from the five weeks we spent in Germany. |

->> I just put a few of my images up from the tournament, and I'll follow with more later. Trying to get all my editing done, but 21 games is a lot to finish!
Also, www.internationalsportsimages.com has almost total coverage from the tournament, if you want to look. |

->> I have my own version of World Cup photos, not players in Germany mind you but fans here in New York City, each cheering their respective native countries in different neighborhoods and environments. There's a few on my member page, more on my personal website (www.edgarmata.com) and, yes, even more on my Photoshelter page if you're still interested. |

->> I also have a lot of fan photos that were shot in Florence, Italy, at a huge outdoor big screen that was sponsored by Sony PS2. If you also want to hear and see the more than 10,000 Italian fans react to beating Germany in the semis and France in the final's shootout, there are two video clips as well.
See my blog at: http://ericlian.typepad.com/
Images are in a special folder located in the left side bar. Video clips (3-4MB Max) are embedded at the end of each story. |
