->> Just need some advice. Wondering if I could email someone. Would my workflow go better with Photo mechanic which I'm not using?
Thanks

->> What are you using. That would help in whether PM would be better. I love it. We got it at our paper about 4 months ago after suffering for years with FotoStation. I may even buy a copy for my home.

->> Aaron,
I'd be happy to answer questions you might have... but in the future, try out the Q&A section under the "Members Area". You can specify "PhotoMechanic" as the product, and simultaneously e-mail all SS members willing to answer questions about the product.
Short of that, being a little more detailed in your message board post would enable more people to get you accurate responses. |

->> I just used the question and answer section. Thanks
Paul,
I'm using nikon view/browser editor plus photoshop cs on a windows xp.
We also have a DT Search library system. Type in a name, word sentence/photo name and it will find it. |

| ->> It depends on your needs. If you have to process a lot of images quickly the answer is yes. I shoot all RAW and without Photo Mechanic my workflow for a lot of my assignments takes way too long in ACR. However if time is not an issue, I prefer the greater control in ACR. |

->> Aaron:
If it helps . . . I just switched about a month ago from FotoStation to PhotoMechanic. The code replacement feature alone was worth the switch. That feature alone shaves minutes off your workflow if you primarily shoot sports and need to caption photos quick to transmit.
What I miss from FS however is the built-in image editing features such as noise reduction, toning, and sharpening. If PM had level controls or curves there would be no reason to have CS on any of my laptops.
Plus the cost to purchase and upgrades after the first year are both reasonable compared to FS. Try it out, it is well worth the beans in my opinion to have if you captioning is part of your workflow. |

->> There's another big thing with PM. Their support and their commitment PM users and our suggestions. I never saw such great support with any other program. I remember pretty short mailing which few of us had with Kirk back at RG forum. No long explanations or begging for new feature, just few posts and few weeks later code replacement was done and working.
Now I'm waiting for 4.5 to come out to have one more cool feature which I'm still missing with PM, and then there can't be any better program then PM for me. :) |

->> Just to add to Primoz's comment. I started having some issues w/ PM and Kirk Baker took a real interest (unsolicited I might add) in my troubles. After a week long email thread, he called me today and we spoke for an hour going through some troubleshooting steps which ultimately fixed my issues. You're just not going to get that kind of support from any competing app. PM gets my vote, every time.

->> I have to add my support to PM. By far by far the best customer support there is. Emails are answered fast and if you phone, a real person answers and not 100 different menu options.
And the program works better than anything else you could try.

| ->> PM is amazing. Thanks to Brad Penner for giving me some pointers last summer, my workflow speed has increased thus saving me time and money (not to mention the fact that I can now get more sleep). |

| ->> I've never been a huge fan of PM. I'm currently using iView MediaPro (http://www.iview-multimedia.com/mediapro/) which was recommended to me by a friend that had similar struggles with PM as me. Most of my issues with PM were with a loss of exif data and file corruption with Canon cr2 files. |

->> I, too, have to throw in my support for PM. Being also a software developer, myself, I asked some details about how PM stores what images are tagged. They quickly enlighten me so I could move forward in my own development. The questions I have had have always been answered quickly. I highly recommend them!
