Automator upload script for sportsshooter?

->> Okay, with all the tech-heads out there, somebody has to have come up with a slick of using automator or something similar for doing site updates.

I would love to update more, but everytime I want to I know it takes about an hour after going through my selects, pulling out the individuals I want, cropping to the size, copying and pasting the captions over, selecting the right stuff on the site. Then redoing the two or three that didn't make it up correctly.

It's a daunting task, isn't there a faster way? :)

Thanks

->> There IS a somewhat automated way, IF you are also a PhotoShelter user.

You create a Gallery (a subset of your Archive), and then have it sent to SportsShooter with a click or two. It will then downsize your images to the SS spec, and automatically insert your caption and copyright text info. Pretty slick. Thanks to Grover et al.

No, it won't write your caption, or crop for you... but it can make some of the work go easier.

The other option (for downsizing mages - if you're a non-PhotoShelter user) is to create an Action within Photoshop, of your downsize, and any other stuff you'd like to throw in, save it, and then you can run the action individually, or batch from Bridge, or even a Droplet from Photo Mechanic.

I'm sure there will be other suggestions, but those are mine...

Have fun!

- Ed.

->> Ed - I had no idea that was possible with Photoshelter (looks like I need to explore PS more). Just gave it a try and it's sweet! The pics load much faster than having to upload them through ss.com.

Travis - I agree with you that it's a rather long and tedious process to upload new images through the Members Area. Hopefully it's become smoother like the process used in PhotoShelter (maybe another update to Photo Mechanic???). = )

->> I suggested a more....automated upload process last year, and got the response that some new major features were coming along. That was apparently a reference to Photoshelter. I agree that the current process is cumbersome and that's why I don't update as much as I'd like.

One of my original ideas was to at least have the captions pulled from the ITPC info; this is the most annoying part of the uploading process for me as I inevitably make errors that require re-uploading.

->> So how do you get PhotoShelter to upload a gallery. I knew about it and tried to make a Virtual Agency Gallery but hasn't worked the two times I've tried.

->> Open your gallery – If they are in the order that you want just look to your right under Export Gallery To:

Click on Partner Sites and go from there.

One thing I love is the custom order. You can arrange and rearrange your photos before sending them to your SportsShooter page.

->> OK, so I got it to work but all my images are untitled. Is that normal or am I missing an IPTC field in PhotoMechanic? It's not Headline so I'm assuming it must be Object Name?

->> Yes, Jason from PhotoShelter was following the thread and filled me in.

Now, if SS could implement something like that for our "Additional Galleries". With PhotoShelter we can only update our main gallery and adding extra galleries with this amount of ease would be great.

->> I'd like to see it where we can upload 10 images through Photo Mechanic to sportsshooter, and they instantly appear on our page.

I know the sportsshooter guys can make this happen.
