| ->> I've had my 1dmk2 for about 1.5 years, and I recall it being sharper. I've noticed when especially shooting basketball, that when I set CF #4 to 3 and use the back focus button, my frame bursts are usually yielding only 2-3 decent images out of itleast 10-12. It didn't use to have this issue. It seems typical of the 70-200 2.8 lens. But disregard that and I still think the camera is a bit soft looking. Is my camera in need of work or would others agree that the 1d mk2 isn't as sharp as it should be? Anyone else have similar problems |

->> Hey Matthew
You will find many threads on that very issue on SportsShooter.
Mine worked flawless for 8 months on both my
300 2.8
70-200 2.8
100-400 4.0
then one day it all changed. First shot in focus, next 8 totaly out of focus. Each and everytime. I took it to Canon.
I live not far from the West Coast Canon headquarters in
Irvine. I took it in there 5 times under warranty and they said each time they could find nothing wrong with it.
One thing that might of happened is the contacts on the ring
are wearing down, on both the camera and the lense.
One big time photographer told me it is not good to even leave the camera attatched to the lenses.
Also carrying the camera with for example the 700-200 on it
by the camera body or camera strap puts stress on the mount.
Mine still does not work good.
My next step is to replace those brass contacts
( or bronze or what ever they are made of) on both the
lenses and body. (probably Gold)
Best camera out there, but it will wear out.
Also my shutter grenaded shooting a football game.
When the shutter curtain imploaded, it scratched the sensor.
They said I was near 100k actuations.
( thought it was suppose to go to 200k)
Canon replaced the shutter, shutter curtain and sensor
and gave me a break.
My out of pocket was only $690
I was so stoked
I had just enough left to get a quarter pounder with cheese
and a coke.
I still think it is the best camera hands down.
(or in this case "hands up" ) |
