->> For you Aperture users the long awaited update is finally out!
Let's hear your experience. Let us know how the binary works on the Intels. |

->> Wasn't crazy about the need to update to 10.4.6, but it's otherwise now rock-solid. New tools are a nice addition, the color meter is really excellent. Just got started with it.
I think the price drop is going to encourage more people to use it. Powerful and elegant, they've made a great tool even better. For those who are concerned about the single file that Aperture uses for all images, especially those of us with huge libraries, there's also a cool third-party app called "Aperture Spanner" that allows spanning of that across multiple drives without striping them. |

->> "And $200 back for version 1.0 buyers"
Only if you spend it buying stuff from Apple...
"Apple is offering a $200 e-coupon good on the online Apple Store"
Which only solidifies my belief in the theory "Never Buy Version One Of Anything". |

| ->> How are the quality of the conversions? Last I heard they were the worst between that, Photoshop, DPP and C1 (my preference at of the moment). |

| ->> Also does it have curves? I forget. Also, is it Universal Binary now... I've never seen it in use. Thinking about picking up a Mackbook Pro while in the US in a couple weeks. |

| ->> I was hoping for blazing fast improvements and so far the 3000 images I'm trying to auto stack is taking just as long as before. I've got 6gb of RAM so I was hoping for more of an improvement. Importing test will be next. |

->> Wow! Raw previews load sharp instantaneously, even in full screen mode, and on a G4 1.25 GHz! I can't do that in Photo Mechanic. Importing raw files from my CF card is not as fast as coping files with the finder but it is faster, gone is the initial delay before the first photos start importing. Keep in mind you can start editing the first part of your card while the rest is still importing.
The whole program seems snappier, a welcome improvement for us G4 PowerBook users.
Still no direct support for sound files.
BTW - I don't think I'll have a problem finding something at the Apple store the photo department could use. |

->> I'm more than determined to make this work.
Further testing shows that performance improves immensely the more images are stacked. I have a project that has over 4000 RAW images and I was so frustrated with the time it was taking to stack them that I gave up. And then the program was unbearable to use, an absolute nightmare.
Now after taking the time to stack everything, performance has improved ten-fold. I think having to display ALL of those images really soaked up the processing power and kept me from doing anything else. And by the way, my machine is no slouch either. I'm still learning about Aperture, it's not going to work for everything but there are many instances when it is absolutely wonderful. |
