Curious MkIIn/Ultra II/Powerbook issue
Pete Lorence, Photographer, Student/Intern

->> Shooting some football (soccer) today and came to wiring some images out. So, I popped the card into the laptop and all the files, instead of having my custom filename, had the old MkII default file name!

The computer wouldn't load any of the files, so I removed the card and put it back in, but this time many of the files were corrupted.

Any idea why one of my systems would throw a wobbly, or is it just a random glitch that has to be expected with digital technology?

Thanks

->> I've never heard of this problem or experienced it myself. It might be a firmware problem, check your firmware and make sure it is the most current. You can find the most current firmware on Canon's web site. Good luck -ScotT-

->> Pete,

Must not have been our day. I was shooting the Cambridge United match for the NLP and both DPP and Photo Shop decided not to read my RAW images. I had to submit via Photo Mechanic without any corrections. Hope it works out for you.

->> If you pull a CF card out of a Mac without ejecting it first; then subsequently connect another CF card to the Mac, it will overwrite the new CF card with the filnames and filestructure of the original card. Since none of the actual image data exists on the card, the files become corrupt.

Image Rescue should recover your images.

->> Oh right, that explains what happened, but doesn't explain why it happened as I religeously eject the card and double check it prior to removal!
