Bibble Vs Phase One Vs Canon DPP?

->> Has anyone compared Canon's DPP 2.0 (free) with Bibble Pro 4.6 ($129) and Phase One ($?) for speed, RAW conversion and ease of use? I'm now working with RAW files from a 5D.

->> I currently use PhotoShop CS2 to make my RAW conversions, but in the past I have used both DPP & Capture 1, but not Bibble. The RAW conversion in CS2 is far superior to past versions of PhotoShop.

Both DPP & C1 make beautiful files, better than CS2, but not by a lot. Both DPP and C1 have very customizable workflows, but I prefer working with the combination of Photo Mechanic and PhotoShop better. Neither DPP nor C1 is very fast at making conversions since they are probably working harder to make the best possible image, where CS2 sacrifices some image quality for a noticeable speed improvement.

I have not used DPP since v1.6, and it has been even longer for C1. C1 used to have a free trial that was between 15 and 30 days depending on the version. If they still offer the free trial, my best advice would be to download C1, and give it a try. You will probably need to read the manuals on both DPP & C1 in order to set them up to your liking.

->> We use Bibble Pro Version, for all raw. Produces a 16bit file. They have just announced a update that includes Noise Ninja. In comparison to Canon's you have total control over the image. The speed is good, and you can do batch conversions. Full Specs at http://bibblelabs.com
