->> Delkin has got the same thing (a 32 bit card bus adapter) - if you're looking at something for in your laptop. I got mine from Adorama.
There are many very fast USB 2.0 and Firewire readers out there now. I'll try to find an article that I just read and post a link.
Good luck! |

->> Lexar's new firewire readers (available from SS sponsors) are very fast.
It's good to consider multi-readers for the fact that you may end up with a point & shoot that uses SD cards or use the SD slot on a Mark II -- or have someone who needs help who is using an SD card. At my job we find traveling reporters who are given a P&S to do some simple photos such as building shots have SD cards and you need to be able to read them.
Also, there are a few USB 2.0 readers out there (can't remember the name now) that are one unit and plug directly into the USB port without the need for cables. |

| ->> Kent, there are plenty of the 1394 card readers for multi formats here in my country. If you're in a major town in the US, you shouldn't have to look beyond S$45 for one (roughly US$25). |

->> In a totally un-scientific test I determined that there are big differences in speed among USB card readers. All were labeled as “Hi Speed USB 2”, but some were a lot slower. . The Lexar Professional Card Reader was 18% faster than a Belkin 15 in 1 reader. A Sandisk CF Imagemate was much slower.
The 32bit Delkin cardbus (laptop) adapter was a little faster than the Lexar Professional.
The ingest program also seems to make a difference. I full on comparison and review of card readers, ingest programs would really be welcome. |

->> Don't purchase a USB 2.0 card reader as I and several other photogs have found when you ingest through Photo Mechanic that not all the images are ingested.
This doesn't happen with a firewire reader.
Just an FYI if you use PM to ingest your photos. |

->> I vouch for the new Lexar Firewire card readers. We use a few at my newspaper and they are pretty fast, and I'll be switching over to them for my personal equipment soon.
I've also looked at stackable card readers, but I don't think it's worth the extra money (for my workload at least). |
