->> Hey Marc -
I couldn't figure it out at first either, until I actually broke down and read the instructions that came with the confirmation:
To load the preferences file, which includes a dropdown menu with the contest categories,
1. Open Photo Mechanic.
2. Open the Preferences dialog:
* On Windows and Mac OS 9, choose Preferences from the Edit menu.
* On Mac OS X, choose Preferences from the Photo Mechanic menu.
3. Click the Import button at the bottom left of the Preferences window, and browse to the BOP2006.XPM file you saved to your computer. Click the Open button in the file dialog to load the file.
4. Make sure the Import Categories Menu and Merge Settings boxes are checked, and click Import.
5. Close the Preferences dialog. A dropdown with the 3-letter Category codes should appear in the IPTC Info and IPTC Stationery Pad windows the next time you open them.
To load the IPTC Stationery Pad file that has your contest ID code and email address pre-filled,
1. Open Photo Mechanic.
2. Choose IPTC Stationery Pad from the Image menu
3. Click the Load button at the bottom left of the IPTC Stationery Pad window, and browse to the 00009089.IPT file you saved to your computer. Click the Open button in the file dialog.
4. Your Contest ID code, 00009089 will appear in the Special Instructions field, and your email address will appear in the Transmission Reference field. The boxes by both those fields should be checked automatically.
5. Close the IPTC Stationery Pad window.
It doesn't actually do anything you can't do by hand, which is what I did cuz I didn't read the instructions until after I finished.
It did work though. |

->> Kevin,
thanks for replying. i did read it, but i guess something is wrong with the version of Photo Mechanic i've downloaded, i used the link from the NPPA website.
my first stumbling block was the registration codes didn't work.
my next problem, as per the instructions page "Click the Import button at the bottom left of the Preferences window." in my version of Photo Mechanic THERE IS NO IMPORT BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LEFT OF THE PREFERENCES WINDOW. sorry i'm not yelling at you, but this is where the frustration sets in.
so did you go through and enter everything manually into the PM stationary pad before reading the instructions? and it worked?
