Batch EXIF Date Editing

->> I know there are lots of programs that you can use to caption your images and edit your EXIF data, and I've even made an Action in Photoshop to batch process a bunch of images, but I have a situation that needs another approach.
I inadvertently changed the in camera date to 2005 when I was adjusting the time for Daylight savings, all other info is correct (day, month, time.) Now, is there a clever way to batch change only "2005" to "2003" without changing any of the other shooting data (kind of like a Find & Replace approach?)
Any tips? (Mac or Win)
Thanks a bunch!

->> Ed:
You can do this with Photo Mechanic by CameraBits ( www.camerabits.com ) - First open a contact sheet of images in PM - then select the images that you need to modify - then go to the EDIT pull down menu and select SET INFO TEXT - a window will open that contains all the EXIF fields - the first field is date which is expressed like this DATE: {date} - simply replace the {date} (including the hard brackets) with the correct date and click OK and all your selected images will now have the correct date - Note that you will need to reset your INFO TEXT DATE field back to {date} (including the hard brackets) when you are done so PM will corrcetly record the date for future images - just make sure you don't have any images selected when you do this.
Hope this helps! |

->> OOOPS! Please disregard my previous post - the changes in the SET INFO TEXT window in Photo Mechanic only change the way PM displays the EXIF info - it does not change the info in the file -
1000 apologies for my error! |
