| ->> I too am still using 7 at home and 6 at work. According to our IT guys, whom I have nicknamed "The Can Do Squad", there is no need to ever upgrade from PS 6/OS 9.2. OS 10 is evil and will steal your soul. As a matter of fact there is no need to upgrade any of our digital darkroom stuff. And if something does break beyond repair make sure it is replaced with the cheapest replacement they can find. |

->> Thinksecret is a rumor site. They've had some credible news and "leaks", others not so much. Regardless, good thing is that Adobe IS adding new features constantly, so updates and upgrades are often worth it.
Those of you not on CS2, I HIGHLY recommend you download the fully-functional FREE 30-day trial. I was so convinced that I bought the upgrade the moment it was available, there are some incredible new tools in CS2 that make it WELL worth the $150-ish for the upgrade. |

I have not upgraded from CS yet. Can you give examples of which new features/tools you think are reasons to upgrade?
Thanks.

->> Dianna,
For me it was the CS2 Raw converter that loads all of your selects in a preview window vs. having the software make you do it one at a time.
Now I save so much time making my tiny tweaks to the photos at once and then let CS2 open the photos all in one batch.
As someone who shoots raw all the time this has been a godsend. I would have easily paid double the update price to get this feature.
Downloading the trail was all I needed to see and I was sold.

->> Thanks Tree.
I haven't started shooting raw yet, so I still need to learn about that and get some bigger cards (still using 1g cards and Nikon D1x and D70s cameras.)
I'm also using Photo Mechanic 4.3.7 to view and tag my selects and then I'm dragging them into CS to work on them.
So, the Raw Converter is one of the main reasons for upgrading. Anything else? Anyone?

| ->> Caution - if you are on Windows XP and use droplets, be careful with the CS2 upgrade. *A LOT* of people (myself included) lost droplet functionality with the upgrade...drag the files to the droplet and nothing happens. Adobe is supposedly aware of the problem and working on a fix. |

->> I shot Adobe's CEO about two weeks ago. I asked him about a CS3 rumour and he stopped like a deer in headlights.
It was not a "nope" stop and stare, it was a "ummm, I dunno what you mean" stop and stare. I could be wrong, but the PR flak from Adobe had a grin on her face.
Of course there was no confirmation or denile. This shoot was before Aperture was released by Apple, but the CEO and PR Flak seemed to be hinting heavily at Apple's software, so maybe the new software is to compete with Apple. |

->> I just got a full version of Adobe Photoshop CS2 from The Adobe online store for 299.00. This is a special offer from Adobe to Canon shooters who got PS Elements with their digital cameras when they bought them. I got Elements with my 10d. The deal ends Nov. 30th. Here is the link
