->> Hello,
After upgrading to Tiger, I can no longer send files via FTP as I did before while using my cell phone connected to Verizon 3G. Worked before starting with OS 9 as well as 10.2 and 10.3, but not with 10.4. I am able to connect. Surfing is fine. Email when not sending attachments is fine. I can dowload files with the FTP, but I don't need that, I need to upload and that will not work. I have tried Transmit, Fetch and the one built into Photo Mechanic. All have the same problem, they start but then stop after the initial packet. It stalls with a disconnect after a bit. While it's stalled I have tried to load a web page and that no longer works.
Connection is fine until I try to upload with the FTP or send a photo with emai.
I booted from a firewire external running 10.3.9, connected and sent a photo with no problem. Switched back to Tigher and no sending photos.
Any ideas out there before i go back to Panther?
I also upgraded the software for the usb cable to Tiger compatible
The console has given me the following: (I changed the address to x's)

| ->> Apple released 10.4.2 just recently ... Please update your Tiger OS. I think it might solve your uploading problem. I am not 100% sure .... I am using 10.4.2 and my Verizon 3G works like a charm. |

->> Thanks, I have done the 10.4.2, but it still doesn't work. I must have some other gremlin lurking around in there.
Michael, what phone or card do you use?

->> I was having a simialr problem, but with Sprint PCS
I deleted the Fetch Cache and then everything worked fine.
just do a search for a file named Fetch Cahce and trash it, then empty the trash.
Make sure Fetch is not running when you do this,
hope this helps |

| ->> I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but can I ask what kind of upload speeds you guys are getting? |

->> Speed? Better than 56 dialup slower than DSL. I never measured it but it's not bad.
After backing up I decided to try a clean install instead of the upgrade that I had done. Wouldn't install, glad I did a back up.
Took a trip to the Apple store they tried installing from a store disk, after the install it booted to a blue screen.
Well, it's now on the way to repair. Don't know if a hardware problem was causing the FTP portion to not work, but apparently there is some hardware problem with the computer.
Should know in a week or less.

| ->> I use 7135 Kyocera smartphone with a cable from Smith Micro ... It works like a charm! Uploading and downloading in National Access are slow ... I am waiting for the Verizon Broadband technology here in the San Francisco Bay Area. |
