->> Hi Andrew,
I took about 300 shots before noticing, all of them looked identical. (good arguement for chimping). When I got home I went outside and did a couple of test shots and everything works fine, again. Will a failed shutter act like this? |

->> My co-workers Mk II did the same thing just this week. But when we looked at the sensor you could see the shutter blades hanging in front. Happened while he was at an assignment.
Off to Canon she goes! |

->> Good evening Keith,
I have an absolute, positive, definitive answer for you.
It is definitely the shutter.
This happened to one of my Canon film bodies several years ago- completely ruining most of the chrome I shot at a Mariners game at Safeco Field in Seattle. I did not know there was a problem as the shutter kept firing- i wish it would have stopped the camera from working- but it did not. You see- the shutter keeps firing but one of the blades is loose and does not close properly, thus the film or sensor gets overexposed in the shape of the gap that is caused by the loose blade.
To back up my claim I will now point you in the direction of a fine story Sports Illustrated staffer and SportsShooter.com member Al Tielemans wrote for the Sports Shooter Newsletter almost three years ago. This story even has a photo showing the EXACT same white streak running through one of Al's chromes that is running through your frame:
WARNING: Count those 1V actuations

More often than not, a cool search of the newsletter archives in the black search bar at the top of every page on our site will point you in the right direction. This time I simply searched for "Canon shutter"
Get it fixed and good luck! |

->> Thank you everyone.
I'll get it in the mail on Monday. Just looked at my receipt, I purchased it on 7/8/2004 and it goes bad on 7/16/2005. |
