| ->> I'm not sure if there has already been a thread about this or not, but I couldn't find anything. Is there a converter for OS X? Is it a download? Any info is greatly appreciated. |

| ->> Yes, I beleiev you can get it from canon's website. I also got one with my 1D and 10D. The 10D files seems slow in converting. I shoot RAW and it seems to take longer than with the 1D. I know they're bigger files, but it still seems slow. One thing I did notice is that Photo Mechanic will allow me to preview the 10D raw files. I can't do this with my 1D. The files all look pixelated. |

| ->> You can try the Adobe Camera RAW plugin which works with Photoshop 7.0.1 on OS X. The $99 plugin is leaps and bounds better than the Canon RAW converter... |

->> The Adobe Camera RAW plugin does not work with the Canon 10D RAW files. But it is possible to hack the plugin to work with the 10D, you need to use a Hex Editor. It's not that hard to do but not for the timid monkeying around with the files.
I did it on my Mac and now it can open my 10D RAW files. |

->> 2 things. I beleiev if you fiddle with the Adobe converter it's NOT going to give you everything you want out of your 10D files. It seems that on another message board a guy was talking about it being set-up for the D60 and by making it work, it was taking certian information for the D60 and using that for 10D files. Something in the conversion processs. However, you may like the results.
2nd thing is that the Adobe plug-in wil cause errors if you use the canon FVU and it together. Example. If you use the Canon FVU to convert a RAW file to a tiff file and then try to open it in PS. The Adobe plug-in won't allow that to happen. You need to use the open as command. No more drag and drop to open a TIFF. This has to do with the fact that the Canon RAW and Adobe TIffs are, well, named TIFF files.
Personally, if your coverting large numbers of images to TIFFS then the Canon is the way to go. If you work with just a handful of images at a time, I think the Adobe program gives better color. With thatbeing said, my 10D images from the Canon FVU are looking real good. Better than my 1D images. Hope this helps. |
