->> Okay, I have done a search on the boards and have read a lot of past threads and posts, but still cannot find what I am looking for.
I am wanting to put my portfolio on a cd and for it to have an auto run feature that be compatible with either PC or Mac. Basically I want for an editor to put it their computer, be it Mac or PC, and for it to start without the user having to do anything but sit back and watch the images.
I know that Apimac was recommended in past threads, but while it will run on PC or Mac, it is Mac based and I am PC based. I don't want to use the SS portfolio and burn to cd as I am not happy with the small file size nor will it run as a "slide show"
I have done a google search and have wasted a lot of time trying several different programs and I have not found one that does what I want.
So I turn to my SS brothers and sister for their advice.
thanx, jw |

->> majority of photo editors have photo mechanic, OR a program like it on their computers. if your sending your work to an editor they can easily take it to their photo department and have them look at em from there.
using a fancy slide show can be nice, but i suggest you just burn the files (at a low res) and have them set up in a sequence. i have never used a slideshow program. keep it simple, simple, simple. because the last thing i wanna do when im at work is sit around waiting for a slide show, then once i can find a computer in the newsroom to play the slide show, i need a plugin, then i need something else.. it's a total hassle. |

->> You should check out SlideShowPro http://www.slideshowpro.net/
It is a quick and easy way to build Slide Shows with flash. You can also create an auto executable file using flash to do just what you are looking to do. |

| ->> There is a software program for PCs called Pictures To Exe that saves your slideshow as a screensaver or slideshow in an Windows based .EXE format. Cost = ~$25 |

| ->> Hi Jim, I'm on a Mac and use Photoshop Elements, a very inexpensive program. You can easily make a quick and dirty slideshow from this application and it can be saved as a pdf file. This type of file is extremely common and readable on virtually all computers, Mac or PC. It also doesn't take up a lot of space so you burn it to CD and when your viewer inserts it, he or she need only click on the icon and it will self-run. Hope this helps! |
