->> Help
I know I've recently seen instructions for downloading the contents of an I-pod back onto a hard drive. As I'm gonna have to do a system restore, my daughter is pitching a fit about losing her tunes. The message board hasn't turned up anything useful, so I'm asking if anone can steer me to the information.
Thanx,
Dave |

->> dave--
with all due respect (and please don't take this as a personal attack), why didn't you check out one of the many website that deal with ipods (ipodlounge comes to mind)? and if you could not find what you were looking for there, you could have posted to an ipod message board instead of a photo message board.
good luck restoring your music,
matt |

->> Matt,
My 16 yr old daughter is the I-pod owner. I'm still working thru Cd burning. Personally, I wouldn't have a clue where else to start looking, so I started with the resource I know.

->> Offloading images from an iPod back to a computer is really easy if you are running Photo Mechanic because PM sees the iPod as a removable drive in just the same way that it sees a CF card in a card reader and so you can "ingest" the files from the iPod in the normal PM way. Another plus for Photo Mechanic!

->> Dave-
Here's link to a great ipod resource - you'll see a list under the photos, left side of page, one of which is titled "Tutorial: Copying Music from ipod to Computer". Hope this will be helpful.
http://www.ipodlounge.com/
The copying is do-able though specifics vary depending on whether you're on Mac or Windows. If she also wants to keep up with playcounts, ratings, etc. then there are a few files you'll want to save before wiping the drive.
Good luck,
Ruth |

->> If you're in the Windows environment, check this out - it's called iPod Agent:

What's particularly cool about it, is that it can also copy all your Outlook data (contacts, calendar, etc.) into your 'pod.... great alternative for non-mac users who don't use iCal.

Do a google search and that should bring it up. It's got a user interface a lot like iTunes and it's very easy to use. Good luck! |
