->> Having a problem and I need your help......PLEASE......... I am new to mac and having a tough problem. I need to rename my images with out a template like Photoshop uses so I am using ACDSEE as a viewer and renamer. When I try to rename acdsee says I cannot rename sice images are locked. I need to put the card back in the camara and unprotect the images before I can rename them. Does anyone have a answer on this or maybe a suggestion on a diffrent rename program? Thanks

->> If I understand the problem correctly then you should be able to unlock the images by highlighting the image and clicking on "control" + "I" (or "get info" under the "File" menu) and then unchecking the "lock" button. But since I don't use an EOS 1d I don't know why the files are locked to begin with. Someone else may be able to shed some light on that.

->> Wait a minute. Are you trying to access the images directly from the card? If you are then copy the images to your hard drive first and then access them with ACDSee. That's is most likely the problem. You can't usually modify images on the card from the computer.

->> I really like Photo Mechanic for viewing, captioning, and renaming files. I've never used ACDSee so I'm not sure how different they are. There is a trial version, give it a try.

->> All of your images are locked? Or just a few?. They become locked when they are tagged in the camera. I've learned not to tag anything in the camera and use a viewer solely as a editor. I've never heard of a program locking everything
There were a few times in the past that when I had file sharing started that I couldn't unlock or rename a file or folder. For the heck of it turn off file sharing ( personal file sharing on OS X) and give that a try.
I'll second Photo Mechanic, ACDSEE I tried and hated. Photo Mechanic is the way to go IMHO.

->> Thanks for the replys guys. Yes Mike, they only images that I cant edit are the ones that I have locked in the camera. The non tagged images are fine. I am downloading Photo Mechanic now. I am thinking maybe I am just a PC kinda guy.
