Problem with CF and D2X

| ->> I shot at least 100 barrel racing images and I never formated the new Extreme III card before shooting. After I downloaded I tried to open and see what the images looked like. All I get is a folder inside a folder labeled 101NCD2X. Every time I open the next file the same name is on it. I have not opened all of the folders. Has anyone seen this before? I tried the recuepro that sandisk has with the cards but it didn't like my Mac. |

->> Hi Gene... sounds wierd...
I have never had that happen to me, D2X or otherwise... but then again I've never tried shooting an unformatted card before.
However, I would think it'd have come preformatted from the factory, and if it wasn't, the camera should not have let you shoot with it.
More evidence that it DOES have some sort of recognizeable format is that the camera was able to put its default folder on there, even though it glitched.
For what it's worth, I haven't tried any Extreme III cards yet, either. I use mostly Ultra II's, and one Lexar 80x.
One thing that DOES seem to happen with my X is that every once in awhile it'll seem to stop recognizing the card. When I shut the camera off, remove and reseat the card, I'm good to go. Hasn't happened enough times yet for me to figure out if it's just a specific card that it's happening to me with. have to try and narrow it down. At least in my case, the camera won't fire, and I can 'fix' it right away and haven't lost anything (that I know of) once it's actually been shot.
Best of luck... if you get any more info on it, or get it figured out, let us know. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. |

| ->> Had that issue once with a Lexar card and D1x. It went back to Lexar and was deemed "unrecoverable." They sent me a new card, but I lost all the shots. |

->> I have had a strange CF issue every once in a while with Photo Mechanic and my cards. When I ingest sometimes it only reads random photos and ingests like half of the total images.
When I go into the card and manually drag and drop the images from the folder to where I want them on my hard drive it works fine though. Strange.
As for your issue Gene the camera might not recognize the card because it is not formatted, that is my guess but could easily be wrong. |

| ->> Thank you everyone for replying. The strange thing about this is that I remember looking at the images on the camera. I was checking to see the exposure on a couple of them. But after I took the card out and had it on the computer I tried put the card back in the camera. Then the camera said no images. Oh well I did get some with the D2H even though I had the white balance set for strobe, GGRRRR. I think it is better to shoot with one camera in rodeos, though this time I did get something. I guess maybe it is better to not SREW UP as much as I did. I was actually wishing I still had film after this. |
