->> Fresh out the box and on the system (OSX)
Need a few days to figure this one out and move over all the plug-ins etc.
Anybody else received theirs?
Canon RAW (CR2) files load considerably faster in the "Bridge" (formerly the Image Browser which is now, by the looks of things, a separate stand alone app).

->> Excuse the typo in the subject line..
Agh.
My coffee mat stuck to my coffee cup and dropped off and hit "Enter" on my keyboard.

->> How does Bridge compare to File Browser? From the description it appeared to be more photo mechanic like. Is this so? At the school paper they refuse to buy photo mechanic because, "File Browser does the exact same thing." If Bridge is that much better than File Browser, I'm going to try to convince them to upgrade to CS2.

->> Well, with early "playing" this morning (I'm not doing any critical work on it until I have figured all the bells and whistles out), I have noticed that the "Bridge" appears to load images considerably faster than the old image browser (and that's on a 2GHZ Dual G5 with plenty of RAM).

->> yes, Adobe Bridge is significantly faster than PS CS1's file browser. if i could eliminate C1 from my workflow and do everything in PS CS2 i'd be a happy camper since that would save me a lot of time, especially when batch processing hundreds of images.

->> Ordered today but website said ship dates aren't until May, yet the order showed to be shipped within 24 hours. Andrew, how long did you have to wait for your upgrade from time of order?

->> I've installed the trial version, I'm really impressed. So much so that I've already ordered the upgrade. Image Bridge as a separate app I'm not so crazy about, but there are some tools in the new version of PS that will prove invaluable. When ACR 3.1 comes out next month it'll be even more useful to those with the D2x, despite the problem with the white balance settings being encrypted. There's a good article about that and the press release sent out by Nikon's agency over on PDN.

->> Received it yesterday and am having fun exploring its new stuff, but like the others am not using it for anything critical till I try it all and devise an efficient workflow incorporating that stuff for predictable results. Perhaps the following comments are really more appropriate to a new thread (or an old one, since it hails back to an earlier lament of mine) but it is SO FRUSTRATING to have spent the money for a D2X and to have lost the use of RAW processing in PS, and that frustration was compounded by having spent the money as well or PS CS2 and out of the box, even IT won't process the D2X NEF files yet. Apparently, that RAW processor isn't going to be available till May, and even then, of course, it'll have the "white balance deficiency" that won't crack the Nikon encrypted white balance data. I feel like a kid caught between divorcing parents; all I want is for them to get together so I can live my life smoothly. For three months, and countless images, now, I've either had to shoot and process jpeg images (which you all encouraged me to do anyhow, so it's probably a good forced transition for me)or extend the RAW workflow by working first in Nikon Capture and then in PS. Not feasible when you're having to work fast to upload images for your editor. So here I am with a 12.6 megapixel camera, shooting as though it's a D100 and completely ignoring features that I paid all the money for because I can't efficiently process the images I get with them. I don't know how the May release of PSCS2 will effect all of this, but I'm pessimistic, as it sounds as though I'm STILL going to have to use Nikon Capture to deal with white balance editing. Why can't Nikon realize that every photographer on the planet uses PS to edit images, and make that easy for us? These obstructions are just about enough to push me to sell years worth of accumulated Nikon equipment and force me over the fence to Canon. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
sorry for the rant. |
