->> Here are some features I found interesting for photographers:
"Core Image
Unlock the power of today’s graphics hardware for ultra-fast, pixel-accurate image processing.
Wireless Image Capture
Wirelessly import images from cameraphones via Bluetooth or from digital cameras via WiFi.
Buy Printing Supplies
Purchase supplies for your printer right from Mac OS X Tiger
Spotlight Find
Search all of your documents, images, emails and applications and view the results literally as fast as you can type.
Burnable Folders
Burn a CD or data DVD directly from the Finder by quickly creating a “burn folder” where you can drag and drop the files you want to save.
Dashboard (sportsshooter widget?)
Access mini-applications called Widgets with just the touch of a key — everything from a calculator and stock tracker to weather report and address book.
64-bit Virtual Memory
Run the new generation of 64-bit applications that address massive amounts of memory."
Photoshop+Photo Mechanic+Transmit
"Accomplish all of your time-consuming, repetitive manual tasks quickly, efficiently and effortlessly with Automator Workflows. It’s simple to create custom Workflows just by dragging items, pointing and clicking. Perform the task once using your Automator Workflow or many times — even share Workflows with friends." |

->> The widgets are going to be very cool and useful, but Automator is the tool I'm most excited about - creating macros to do multiple steps at the touch of a button will be helpful on a number of fronts.
The guys at Camerabits (Photo Mechanic) have been saying for a while that 10.4 is going to really juice up Photo Mechanic's speed, file handling and other goodies.
I can't wait.
PS - in case you haven't noticed the 10.3.9 update is out this evening, via Software Update. This should be the final Panther update.

| ->> Apparently Tiger is going to be shipped on DVD. If you want CDs you will have to fill out a form and send it to Apple along with the Tiger DVD. |

| ->> I have been told the new searcht tool is amazing. If you use your ITCP tags in Photomechanic you can search those words directly in the Finder. |

->> Alright, so who has taken the plunge already? My copy got here on Thursday but I haven't upgraded any of my machines yet.
For those of you braver than I, have you experienced any photo related problems? Is all our photo related software still working? etc. etc.?
Thanks in advance. |

| ->> I received mine on Thursday as well. Ordered from apple.com, shipped two day but I received it in one. I really like the OS so far. Spotlight is awesome, dashboard is nice. I haven't gotten a chance to play around with automator, but that also looks pretty cool. |

->> I like the Dashboard, I like how Spotlight separates its query results in sections, and I'm excited for the RSS Safari.
So far, haven't been able to try it out too much. |

->> I have to say - spotlight is unreal. I've never had a search tool like that. Its almost scary its so good.
Dashboard is okay - I don't think I'll end up using it all that much.
What happened to using the switch users tool? Switch users and the whole screen would rotate and not quit all of the open programs.
Overall 10.4 is worth getting if just for Spotlight.

->> Tiger's very stable so far, no conflicts with Photoshop CS 2. Repairing permissions is hyperfast, Spotlight is very useful, Quicktime is a lot of fun and Photo Mechanic is stable and very fast.
Now, for a few hours of sleep..... |

| ->> Tiger has a lot of possibilities. I'm waiting a couple of weeks before installing it and QT7, just making sure there aren't any problems. Last time they put out a new version of QT it didn't work right with one of Apple's main pro software titles, FCP. Seems they would have made sure that worked first. But I hear the new H.265 (?) codec is amazing, can't wait to hear what some of you have to say about the new OS and its workings. |

| ->> I received an e-mail from Extensis Portfolio that it is not working with Tiger. An update is promised soon. So until I received that update, and see how some of the other programs are impacted, I am going to wait for a bit. |

->> After upgrading to 10.4, my Delkin CardBus CF reader fails to work. It shows the disk as unreadable, and kindly offers to initialize it. Worked perfect with all versions of 10.3 I had installed, and I can't find a new driver on Delkin's site.
FYI. |

->> Mike,
I have one of those as well. It works well if you are careful, but it's the only thing that causes kernel panics on my Powerbook. Lexar now makes a 32-bit one, if it doesn't require a stupid driver I'll likely get one. Delkin's semi-support of the Mac isn't great. When the card works, it works extremely well. But when it doesn't... |
