->> I and all of my clients use PC's. I have a new client that uses Mac's.
My question concerns the length of file names.
Is there a limit to the length???
Thanks for the help!!!

->> It all depends? Do you me a file or a folder?
A folder on the the desktop can have 20 characters. A word document can have 31 characters. I type a jpg file with 50 characters in the name (using Photo Mechanic and Photoshop "save as", but only 39 are visible on the desktop, ie: jerome...1234.jpg . But when you click to rename it all 50 characters show . I'm using OS 10.3.8 I think in OS 9 its even less characters. Hope that helps. |

->> Never mind, I might as well just answer it for both... You will need to know which system they are using however.
OS 9 (without modification) can only work with filenames that are 31 characters or shorter.
OS X can work with filenames up to 256 characters.
Windows XP can work with filenames up to 255 characters. |
