->> I'm looking for a program (MAC) that will give me 'contact pages' of CD's with a couple hundred images in them, so I can sort through them (and print out for budget meetings) in less than a day. I've heard Photo Mechanic is one. Pro's, Con's, any others???
Thanks!!! |

| ->> Mark, you can do that in PhotoMechanic, also, it is probably the BEST program out the for Mac to edit your digital images. However, if you need to look at tif files I'm not quite sure it works with that, you might check out their website at www.camerabits.com to make sure. Also, unless you are looking at files shot from Kodak digital cameras, you only need Photo Mechanic Lite (a lot cheaper). Hope this helps |

->> You might also look at iView MediaPro. You can sort the photographs and make contact sheets. It can also do slide shows, as well as many other things. I believe it goes for $65, which is a lot less than Photo Mechanic. www.iview-multimedia.com is the link to their web site.
I use both programs. While doing similar jobs they approach them very differently. While both are excellent, I think the features of iView will meet your needs better.
Good Luck

->> I like Photo Mechanic Pro (www.camerabits.com) quite a bit, I have Photo Mechanic for both my Windows 2000 laptop and my Mac based desktops. PM is a great batch caption program in addition to a very fast and efficient image viewer.
Another program you might want to look into is Foto Station (www.fotostation.com). FotoStation is fairly easy to use, quite powerful in it capabilities, and only US$100. I use FotoStation for slide show presentations (in addition to another program which does nice slide shows), batch captioning and fast editing (when all the power of Photoshop is not needed). Photo Station lays the image out on your screen like a contact sheet which is nice. |

->> I'll second Howard's opinion of IView Pro and have used it since it's days of being a simple shareware program.
Use it quite extensively to produce contact sheets and QuickTime slide shows which are very effective for presentations. Bottom line is (IMO), it offers the best value of any image viewer on the market.
I still think there's a lite version out in net land although I don't think it's supported anymore.

->> I also use Iview Media Pro...have used nothing else.
I average around one thousand images per weekend, and it allows me to sort, rename, write keywords...and trash the bad ones.
I make my contact sheets in Photoshop though...in version 7 currenty because it has a few more features in the "contact sheet" settings. |
