Anyone use Band Aide plug in for reducing noise?

->> I'm purchasing a copy of Photo Mechanic and saw on Camera Bits' site that they also sell a program to reduce noise in high-ISO and underexposed (not that I ever do that...) files called Band Aide.
Anyone ever use this, and if so, what did you think of it? I couldn't find any mention of it on the message boards.
Thanks

->> Colin,
I have played with Band Aide several times and have found it to be a useful high ISO tool with one proviso: Apply it with a light hand. If you use the higher levels of noise reduction, you will loose a great deal of detail and it the resulting image will both look 'painterly' and will have a substantial amount of jpeg artifacts. Keep the filter amount to 10% and the strength to weak. If the result is not enough noise reduction. hit it again at the same settings.
Also be aware that you cannot apply the filter in 16-bit mode. Applying the filter needs to be done after you've converted to 8-bit. |

->> I have used both products and really like Niose Ninja and the fact that you can use it as a filter in Photoshop CS. Also it just produces great images from 800-3200ISO.

compared Picture Code's Noise Ninja, Fred Miranda's Photoshop action ISOx Pro, and nik multimedia's Dfine.
I don't know that that's all the majors, but it's a good read..... |
