->> I would like to propose a ban on all threads related to classified scams unless it is really a new and unique scam.
If you have ever posted anything for sale on the Internet (here, eBay, Rob Galbraith, etc...) you have received a scam e-mail. Heck, even if you haven't posted anything for sale you might have received one of these e-mails.
These threads are like my Dad reminding me not to speed because there is always troopers near mile marker X (pick a location). Yea, Dad I know, thanks for telling me for the 100th time. (No offense Dad.) We don't really need to hear it again on these threads.
Let's talk about photography, like for example the USA Today used a sports photo yesterday that looked like it was taken with a Lens Baby. After closer look, however, I am guessing that it was taken with a zoom effect. |

| ->> Easy Mike...Just trying to warn someone who may not be as keen to scams as yourself. If you don't want to read a thread skip to the next one. |

->> I have to agree with Mike here- 99% of email scams are obvious- if you're dumb enough to go along with it... well maybe you learn an expensive lesson. Or get what you deserve.
I too would like to see people stop posting "watch out, scammers!" and such. Really. We know scam emails when we get them. Without having to refer to the message board. |

->> No disrespect John, but the very fact that you titled the thread the way you did is illustrative of the redundancy of this theme. Perhaps, when something new comes along, (greater than a creative new name or country)it might be useful to post an alert, but so far all the scams have only scarcely, if at all, deviated from the same theme.
Cheers,
Mark |

->> John.
Probably rather than creating a new thread if you had added your message to one of the previous thread on the same scam (which there are at least four) it probably would have been better for all concerned.
I agree with Mark's thoughts that if a new scam appears - something different than we'll give you lots more money than the price of what you are selling and you send us the gear and the rest of the money - then by all means let's spread the information.
I appreciate the thoughtfulness and you are right there are probably more than a few SS members who are not up-to-date on this or any of the other scams out there, but adding it to an old thread would have resurfaced it to the top for people to read not only about your letter, but other variations as well. |

->> Just wanna point out something pretty obvious to me.
If we start a thread about these guys.... Then we give them a heads up, that we know they're a fraud... and are on to them. Since this is a public forum, I highly suggest that we not show our hand to them, if we want them caught.
If I remember correctly, this is one of the reasons for the "make this item available to ss members only" option in the classifieds. I personally like being made aware of the lurking crooks.... but we have to realize that it does come with a hefty price.
Just my $.02
