Shutter Count on New Mark II?

| ->> Just purchased a Canon 1D Mark II on Wednesday but I've noticed when I downloaded the pictures the images are reading high numbers such as LX1W6270. Shouldn't they start with 1 and then go up? I hate to think there has been over 6,000 shots taken on the camera. The box was open when I purchased it at the local store here but all the manuals and such were still sealed and everything looked to be package new. They said it was new and only keep one in the store until that one is sold. Not sure if someone returned it or not...they are closed today for New Years. Is there away to check the shutter count on the 1D? I hate to think I bought a used camera for $4,300. I've only taken about 50 shots since I've had the camera. Thanks for any feedback. |

->> I dont know about the 1 Series cameras, but I have read with the 10D and 20D that if you put your first card in the camera with numbered photos on it already, the cameras counter picks up where the photos on the card left off.
So for instance if you had a photo on your card that was #6000, the first shot taken on your new camera would set the counter to 6001.
However, I'm not sure its the same with the 1 series because of the unique file names given to them. I know when I first shot my MkII it started with 0001, but I formatted the card before taking any photos.
Try the exif program way of checking actuations from the other posted link because that way is not affected by the counter, just actual actuations. If that shows 6000+ I would talk to the store where you got it about another. |

->> I went to the other post and downloaded the program mentioned by Nelse Hansen. I took another shot with the Mark II and ran the program with that image and this is what I've found. Now, according to Nelse it looks like it's ok...but wanted to get other opinions to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. I've sent the image below of what to look for according to Nelse.

Again, any feedback would be great so I know that there is only 181 shots be taken so far with my camera. Just want to make sure I'm reading the right and that I didn't buy a use 1D.
Thanks |

| ->> Eric, it looks like from that you posted that yes, you only have 181 actuations on the body. |
