Captioning images in Photo Mechanic - Pls Help
Greg Allen, Photographer
New York | NY | USA | Posted: 1:44 AM on 12.20.04
->> I am having problems captioning my photos with photo mechanic. I select all the photos.. then I go into the IPTC Stationary Pad - fill in all the information and hit apply - nothing happens.

The captions do not take to the images and leaves me with all uncaptioned photos. I must be doing something wrong or missing something. If anyone here has had a similar problem or can help me with any insight it would be appreciated.

Thanks so much.

->> Greg- you need to check the box next to each field you wish to have your info in, like "caption", "copyright", "city", "state", etc. If you apply to all selected without the appropriate boxes checked the information will not be applied to your images.

->> Also, once you check the boxes, keep them checked. the next time yu import a folder into photo Mechanic, all the old info will still be there so then you can go back and change what is needed. Since you tend to shoot at the same venues, you can ad them already and it will make things faster for you in the future. I can show you on my laptop this week.

I hope Greg doesn't mind me writing this, but I want to congratulate him again for being published in the cream of the crop of music publications, "ROLLING STONE." I'm very proud of you! A nice way to end the year, Greg!

->> sorry, typed too quickly before I thought....

open your stationary pad, uncheck the boxes you don't want changed, leave the caption box checked, but blank, and apply the stationaty pad to your selected images.

that should do it for you.
