->> I am setting up our paper to start digital transmission. We have an Apple powerbook 3 and I'm wondering is there any special software that I need or do I just FTP the photos directly to our paper's FTP site???

The only software you'll need is fetch. It's a cheapware program found somewhere online.

You'll need the staple image editing programs or file browsers for captioning and editing.

You'll also need to figure out if you're connecting via landline or mobile phone. You'll need appropriate phone connecters and software if needed.

->> If you're running OSX, you should be able to just open a shell(sorry, I don't know exactly what they call it in Mac-land) and run 'ftp'

->> Actually, in OS X, you can actually just use the Finder for ftp. Click on Go | Connect to Server... (or Command-K) and enter ftp://username@ftp.whatever.com for the address. The server will appear on your desktop as a network drive.

->> If you are using one of the more recent versions of Internet Explorer ( not sure what version it started with ), you can ftp straight from the browser. Just type in your ftp address, and you will be prompted for your login name and password.
