->> I want to start shooting raw + jpg and just review the jpg to save time. I'm using NIkon and Apple OSX, if that matters. Does anyone have any advice on the best software (and why)?
Thanks in advance |

->> Neil:
I use PhotoMechanic 4.0.3 and it works marvelously. You can view the Nef files with that system as well as the Jpegs all at once. No fuss, no muss!

->> Nikon View allows you to 'Select JPGS' only (Edit->Select Images->JPG Images) to select them for a slideshow. I'm using Nikon View 6.2.1 on MaC OSX.
I downloaded PhotoMechanic today but can't see a way of only selecting JPG's to view as a slideshow.
Anyone else shed any light on this?

->> The next version of Photo Mechanic, which is in beta testing mode, allows a variety of actions with raw and jpeg files that it currently does not include.
You can work with the files together or separately, and it is very useful if you like to shoot raw+jpeg.
I am not sure when it will be out officially, but I have enjoyed using/testing it the last two months.
Other features include the ability to zoom, and the ability to rename on ingest. |
