->> I am looking for information on checking actuations of a Canon 1d, on a MAC. I have this link...
http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic2/72050/0, but it is based on PC use. I checked Fredmiranda.com and couldn't find anything other than that link.
Anyone have information or links to a site that has a MAC usable way of checking my 1d bodies?
Thanks |

->> Ok, after a long search I found this site...http://www.instituteofthefuture.org/exifomatic/
I downloaded the Exifomatic, but am unsure of which number we should be looking at.
Anyone familiar with it? Or would someone download it and figure out how to figure out the actuations from all those numbers?
Whew. |

->> Alright, round Four...
I went to http://www.earthboundlight.com/phototips/20040912.html?source=rss and downloaded the EXIF Reader freeware software.
There is a line called "activation counter", but in the images I shot last week, they go from #65535, then the next image shot is "activation counter 0", then 1, 2, 3...
I did notice that the 0, 1, 2, 3, etc have a "avtivation multiplier of 1, where the 65535 said multiplier 0.
Any idea of what's up with this one? |

->> For those of you using OS X and, you can also see if you have a little built in program called exiftags. Now, you're going to actually have to type something on your computer as opposed to clicking....
Open a Terminal (I think that's what OS X calls it) and type this in:
exiftags [path to image] | grep 58540
example:
exiftags /tmp/SOC04A07858.jpg | grep Actuations
Camera Actuations: 58540
Now, I don't know if this little program exists or not, but if it does... It should save a little time. If it can't find it type in /usr/bin/exiftags |

->> The software that Marie mentions is based on the exiftags package from Eric Johnston. http://johnst.org/sw/exiftags/
I guess you could always build it from scratch(tar xfz exiftags-0.99.1.tar.gz ; ./configure ; make && sudo make install) or futz with the source RPM. Or, just use the little GUI app :-) |
