->> Recently I was givin a name of a Denver repair shop that could do routine service and cleaning on a Nikon D1X with a quick turn-around.

Of course I have misplaced it.

Can one of our Colorado members help me remember who it might be?

thanks,

bert

->> It was probably Metro Camera Service. Their address is 425 N. Federal Blvd., Denver 80204. Phone #s are 303-934-2471 and 800-662-7874.

I've had great success with:

Technik Camera Repair
4356 South Broadway
Englewood, 80110

303 789 4850
Ask for Jerry.

One 'advantage' with these guys is they're closer if you're driving up from the Springs...

->> I have had several repairs done at Metro Camera on Federal. They were the only "Nikon authorized" repair shop in the area when I was looking last year, which might be important if they accidentally screw up your camera (who knows, could happen).

They have done all of my Nikon service too, being "authorized" they could do it under warranty with no hassles and turn it around much faster than standard Nikon "mail order" service in my experience.

From the Springs, exit I-25 west on 6th ave. Exit south (left) on Federal and it's a few blocks on the right side.

->> Need another Colorado Springs/Denver professional repair shop.

I want to know the actuations on my D1X. I had Metro Camera Service clean it and look it over, but they told me (after they sent the camera back to me) that they didn't have the equipment to tell me the actuations.

Is this something that can't be done in the state of CO?

->> AFAIK, that's only something Nikon can tell you. With the D70 and D2-series cameras, it's something you can actually check yourself with some freeware, but I don't think there's anything like that for the D1-Series.

->> Thanks Thomas, I was under the impression that any authorized repair place would be able to tell me the actuations. When I asked Metro Camera to give me the actuations when I dropped the camera off, they didn't tell me they couldn't do it so I assumed they could. They cleaned and checked my D1X and then sent it back to me without telling me the actuations. When I inquired, they said they couldn't tell me the actuations. IF I HAD KNOWN THAT, I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD THEM DO THE WORK...very frustrating.

BTW, do you (or anyone out there) know anything about Technik Camera Repair? I called the number you posted above and it has been disconnected. I can't find another number anywhere. Are they still in business? I'm guessing their not.
