->> Does anyone know of a way to get a photo's creation date that's contained in the EXIF info to automatically show up in the IPTC date field?

->> I noticed that also. The IPTC notepad's date probably is geared towards when you input the data. I generally, at ingestiong, click on today's date or the actual date the image was taken. I've looked for it as well and I found no answer. You could contact camerabits and suggest it for a future upgrade.

->> In Photo Mechanic you can use variables, for instance if you write: {date} in the caption window, you automatically have that days date in file info after the pictures are downloaded. If you press the "variables button" in the IPTC stationery pad, it shows what different variables you can use.

->> INGEST, INGEST, INGEST a lot of headaches can be avoided later in the archiving process with a few minutes of setting up the stationery pad and adding the IPTC info during INGEST!
I usually learn these lessons better when I learn them the hard way!
