| ->> I know that it's probably real easy to do, but I'm not sure how to change the format for the IPTC stationery pad date field. The default is American Style (DDMMYYYY), and I want to change it to European Stlye (YYYMMDD). Your help is greatly appreciated. |

Is is under the windows preferences if you are using windows. Go to the control panel and select the Regional and Languages Options. You can choose from different countries or just make a cutom one with the style you want. I just tried it using a custom yyyy/MM/dd format and applied it. When I opened Photo Mechanic, it used this new custom format for the date.
If you are on a Mac platform, they probably have an equivalent place to change the way dates and currencies are displayed and handled in applications. |

I played with it a little more. Photo Mechanic will display the date in the exif or iptc field in what ever format you have your windows preferences set to. If you change the date format, it will chang to that format when you look at the iptc date field. What this means is your clients will see the date as they have their computer set to display the date.
If you use the preferences to set your computer to the yyyy/MM/dd format and then use one of the PM date variables to put the date in one of the IPTC text fields, such as the caption field, it will be written in the yyyy/MM/dd format and it will stay in that format, since it is just considered a piece of text.
If it is the date used in a caption or text format that you are having problems with, change the settings for your computer, process the files and then change your computer back to what ever date format you prefer. |

->> Robert,
Thanks for you excellent help! I can't believe that I spent so much time and energy trying to figure out something so simple. I should have asked for help sooner.
