| ->> JUst wondering what people are using. I know that Delkin is close to their final version of the driver for all us MAC users, but is it going to be worth the switch from a Fire Wire reader???? Those using the Delkin can chime in and let us know how they like it or don't |

| ->> I use it on the PC side, and the Delkin 32-bit reader is pretty amazing. About 100 Canon files downloaded in a minute, which smokes a regular one. Plus one less cord to plug in... |

->> Jeffrey,
I just bought one on eBay. I should get it next week Send me an email in about 2 weeks and I'll let you know what I think. I think it is marginally faster than FireWire, but like David says, less cords. Kinda makes you wonder if you could download 2 cards at once; one on the firewire/USB and the other on the Cardbus. Anyone got any ideas on that?

->> Jason,
I've tried that (downloading 2 at once) with a PCMCIA card reader and a USB2.0 reader on my laptop. The lappy REALLY didn't like it, and slowed both down to MUCH less than half their overall speed. I think, but am not sure, that the bottleneck was actually the HDD write speed more than anything else.
On another note, Nikon View does not let you run two download at once. You could do it (slowly) if you wanted, but without NView, you can't caption your stuff as it comes in.

| ->> I use a pair of Delkin cards to ingest my files via Photo Mechanic into my Dell 8100. It's speedier than having multiple firewire readers going.... |

Upgrade your hard drive. I just put in a 7200RPM 40GB drive that I got off ebay for $80 new, and everyday speeds are noticably faster. Photomechanic FLIES. |

| ->> Firewire & USB2 verses the Delkin is not really huge difference. The Delkin IMHO is faster on the PC. Is it worth the switch. We need to be able to compare these all side by side at a show on the same machine. Until then we will not know a definitive answer. I still have to see it for myself before I buy anything. |

| ->> Delkin has changed their site around and they list a 1.0 b5 version for the Mac. Is this still the same original version that didn't allow more than one card in and then require a reboot of the computer or has this moved forward to being a real world type product. I've been away from this techy stuff over the last few weeks as I have been extremely busy. I don't have a Delkin reader as of yet so I hadn't downloaded this to see. |

->> I got the Delkin from Jeff @ Penn - a SportsShooter Sponsor. Jeff was great to work with and shipped quickly. Give him a try.
As far as performance - I love the Delkin. No problems with it being recognized by my Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. |

| ->> Compatability problems with the Delkin? I have had no problems with the Delkin with either Lexar 1GB 40x WA cards or Sandisk Ultra II 1GB cards. Not sure if that was what you were asking or not. |
