->> It would take me all day to list... the basic stats are : 1936 songs, 9.37gb for a total of ~6days of music.
Highlights include much: Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, Buena Vista Social Club, The Decembrists, The Flaming Lips, Beta Band, The Cure, Deep Purple (my hard rock fix), Velvet Underground and The Magnetic Fields. I could list so many more favorites ;)
So does anyone share my eclectic taste for any of these groups? Cool thread. |

->> Fish,
You think Mark's got some odd taste, ask anyone who has been subjected to my iPod playlists about my taste. Odd covers, Toni Basil's "Mickey" in Spanish (have a Spanish version of South Park's "Uncle F*cker", too), lots of 80s, techno, hard dance, a 59-minute remix of a Bronski Beat song, lots of Moby, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Khia ("My neck, my back" ROCKS!), Kelis, Def Leppard, Van Halen, tons of Eurythmics (even some Tourists!), 8 remixes of "Die Another Day", Otto's Daughter, Lords of Acid, much more... And comedy. Everything from George Carlin to Chris Rock to Jeff Foxworthy. Oh, and Al Franken's book, all 9+ hours of it.
Still have plenty of room for more, and a lot of file storage. |

->> Mine is an iRiver instead of an iPod. I bought this one because the iRiver mp3 players have a great FM tuner in them and iPods don't. PCs and Macs can both use them.
I have 148 folders and 1088 songs (so far) ranging from jazz, country, rock and new age. My current newest favorites are Lionel Ritchie - Just for You and Jet - Get Born. Jet is a very interesting band from Melbourne with noticible influences of ACDC, The Who, Beatles and Stones etc. Good stuff. They are on tour now in the US (http://www.jettheband.com/jet/tour.asp) Columbus and Cleveland OH tonight and the east coast this weekend.

->> We'll mine is on an International World Tour
At home it sits on a custom made aluminum mount in my Audi TT, with a modified IEEE power adapter that plug into the cars phone jack so it's always powered and no wires running everywhere. Also has a special RCA output to a 6-disk changer plug. So now when I select CD on the stereo head unit I get my iPod, (no FM modulator or cassett adapter).
And when Its not there it's conect to the intercom systems of the US Air Forces C-141 Starlifter, allowing anybody on the flight deck to select (LISTEN) and hear my crazy musical selections in their headsets. (All though this is not authorized by USAF MAJ COM, flying 16 hrs on a tripple air refueling mission over the sand box into the AOR requires a little something to keep you going, so the iPod stays...) It's been on every continent except for Antartica but that may happen soon enough since we fly support missions for the NSF to McMurdo Station.
Oh yeah it has lots of music on it, 18g and some extra stuff too. |

Can existing songs I have be burnt onto the iPod from my current cd's? |

At first I thought the website was a scam, but it's a completely legitimate offer. They were featured on CNN and a few magazines I saw.
Proof!

I got it from FreeiPods.com...all you have to do is join, complete an online offer, and refer 5 friends (via unique referral link) to do the same.
I completed an offer that was a free trial, and canceled my membership after the trial was over...there are many offers to choose from...I got a $300 iPod out of it and didn't pay a dime!
I don't want to post my referral link in the boards (spam rule), but if you want it or have any questions, just shoot me an email off my member page.

Here is a sample of some of the newer stuff on my iPod ...
Hayseed-Dixie (www.hayseed-dixie.com)
Kerosene Brothers (a Hayseed Dixie spin-off)
Grateful Dead live shows (thanks to Live Music Archive - www.archive.org/audio/etree.php)
Have a Nice Decade Boxed Set of 70s Music
William Shatner
Riders in the Sky
Currently have 2497 songs on the computer and iPod.
And, I would highly suggest that you look at www.hayseed-dixie.com because they are not only some of the best bluegrass musicians currently alive but they also create some wonderful music with the combo of bluegrass skill and rock philosophy. If anyone would like to hear some of their music, I have some that I can legally share (they are cool like that because they want people to share their music ... especially the concert recordings and free tracks from their site).
On a similar note, check out www.archive.org/audio/etree.php for great free concert recordings. The bands on the site all approve of the posting of those concerts and they are not just little bands. It includes the Grateful Dead and a couple of other big names ... plus many smaller but still wonderful bands. |
